Homework Week of May 29th- June 2nd
Monday: No School! Tuesday: SS weekly #27 "Men and Women of Florida." Students need to complete all of the sections on the back page of the weekly. Wednesday: Same homework as Tuesday. Thursday: SS weekly #28 "Florida's Heritage and Cultures." Students need to complete all of the sections on the back page of the weekly. Friday: Same homework as Thursday. Week of May 22nd- May 26th Monday: Same homework as last Thursday, which was the SS weekly packet #24: Florida's Population." Students need to answer all of the questions in the packet. Describe why the mission existed and what your daily life was like. (Continue working on "design your own community" project! See assessments.) Tuesday: Answer the following question: what happens when cultures meet? Use details from your notes on the history of Florida and the effects of Europeans on Native Americans. Wednesday: Same as Tuesday. Thursday: From the Social Studies Weekly #1, students will complete the crossword puzzle (located on the back of the paper). Friday: Same homework as Thursday. Week of October 17th - 21st Monday: Same homework from last Thursday: Students will answer the following questions in their Social Studies notebooks: 1) Which two countries battled for control of Florida between 1562 and 1565? 2) Pick 2 of the following 3 communities (Fort Caroline, St. Augustine, and Fort Mose) and compare and contrast them using a Venn Diagram. Have at least 2 details in each section of your Venn Diagram. Tuesday: Describe 1 positive and 1 negative impact the Europeans had on Native Americans. Wednesday: Same homework as Tuesday. Thursday: Imagine that you lived at the San Luis mission. Describe why the mission existed and what your daily life was like. (Start "design your own community" project! See assessments.) Friday: Same homework as Thursday. Week of October 10th - 14th Monday: Students will describe 2 natural resources as well as why conquistadors explored Florida. Tuesday: Students will answer the question "why do people explore" using details from their notes (at least 3 sentences) Wednesday: Same homework as Tuesday. Thursday: Students will answer the following questions in their Social Studies notebooks: 1) Which two countries battled for control of Florida between 1562 and 1565? 2) Pick 2 of the following 3 communities (Fort Caroline, St. Augustine, and Fort Mose) and compare and contrast them using a Venn Diagram. The project is as follows: - You are to design your own settlement during the 1700's (the time period we have been learning about in class). You must include the following: 1. An illustration of your settlement (ex. map) 2. A written paper with the following: - Who controls your settlement? (ex. Spain, Native Americans, etc.) - Describe daily life (hunting, farming, meetings, etc.) - Do you have any conflicts? With who? - What is the best part of your settlement? What is the worst part? 3) Paper must be at least 3 paragraphs Week of October 17th - 21st - On Thursday, students will be starting their "design their own community" project in class. They will also have next Tuesday to work on it (it will be due at the end of class on Tuesday).
